General Cable Associates Celebrate World Environment Day By Planting Trees in India
General Cable associates in Baddi, India observed World Environment Day on June 5, 2011 by planting tree saplings on the grounds of the new manufacturing complex. General Cable’s two wire and cable plants, situated on 20 acres of land, were built to comply with Indian Green Building Council standards. By designing “green” from the ground up, the company has seen immediate benefits in operating costs including energy savings of 30% to 40% and water savings of 20% to 30% when compared to other wire and cable operations their size that make similar products. Planting trees on the grounds is good for the environment and also beautifies the area for many years to come.
