General Cable Named One of America's Safest Companies in 2012
EHS Today, a magazine dedicated to the management of risk in the workplace and environment, announced in September 2012 that General Cable has been named to the 2012 list of America's Safest Companies. EHS Today indicated that General Cable is one of eight companies providing a safe working environment for thousands of associates and serving as a point of reference for companies hoping to achieve world-class safety status.
America's Safest Companies, founded in 2002, is a corporate award honoring the safest companies in the United States. To be considered one of America's Safest Companies, General Cable had to demonstrate: support from management and employee involvement; innovative solutions to safety challenges; injury and illness rates lower than the industry average; comprehensive training programs; evidence that prevention of incidents is the cornerstone of the safety process; good communication about the value of safety; and a way to substantiate the benefits of the safety process.
Safety is the core value that leads General Cable’s management performance. The company is responsible for maintaining an outstanding safety level and providing the resources, education, training and tools needed to achieve its Zero & Beyond goal. All associates are encouraged to take individual responsibility for themselves and to be role models of safety excellence for co-workers, families and communities.
General Cable will strive for continuous improvement in safety while complying with all applicable safety and health laws and regulations.
