General Cable’s Jackson, Tennessee, Manufacturing Plant Exceeds Food Collection Goal
General Cable’s Jackson, Tennessee team members have again exceeded their canned food fundraising goal for Regional Inter-Faith Association (RIFA), a local TN charity. RIFA is a Christian, nonprofit organization that feeds, clothes and trains people in need and empowers individuals for the future. The Jackson facility, which employs 154 people, raised funds in October to purchase 3,550 pounds of various foods for RIFA.
The fundraisers included internal candy sales, a per-plate cookout luncheon on each shift, and a charity golf outing. Total funds raised exceeded $1,000 for the three ventures. The purchased and donated cans were arranged in a show of pride for the facility, spelling out “RIFA,” to remind associates of their successful efforts.
“The associates worked very hard and contributed much in a short period of time,” said Debra Eanes, Human Resources Manager at the General Cable Jackson Plant. “Community involvement has become an important part of the Jackson facility’s mission for the past five years, and has spurred other General Cable facilities to hold similar drives for local charities out of the desire to ‘not be outdone.’”
“Our sense of community outreach is a logical extension of our associates’ desire to succeed in sharing with others as well as they succeed in business,” said Plant Manager Ava Pogue. “Our team is challenged to perform well in everything it sets out to accomplish, and they continue to exceed expectations.”
“Community outreach is now incorporated into the facility’s annual plan, and we are looking forward to seeing what novel fundraising approaches are chosen in the future,” continued Pogue.
Well done, Jackson team!
